I will call this bread vada a snack which can be made in a jiffy. There is no peeling or boiling required. Just wet the breads.. mix all ingredients and fry.. now isn't that fast and easy?Though it is so easy and simple there is no compromise on the taste. Its very soft and crisp at the same time and not heavy on ur tummy. The cheese melts in your mouth and that takes this bread vada to a different level.
The bread vada can surprise your guests. They may expect it to be the uzhunnu vada or medhu vada but will be in for a surprise.I normally make this using the crusts(end pieces) of bread which nobody prefers to eat as plain bread or as toast. So i hoard a few them and use it for this snack The first time i made this snack , i did not shape it as vadas but just as rolls.Still my guests were wondering what i had made it from.So the vada shape is definitely going to score points.A wonderful snack which can be made in max 20 minutes(including the frying).Kids will surely love it!!
Ingredients
Bread -6 slices( i used 5 crusts and one crumb)
Grated cheese 1/4 th cup( i used cheddar)
Coriander leaves- a bunch
Salt to taste
Refined oil for deep frying
How i made it
Immerse the bread in water for a few seconds and squeeze out all water.
Mix all ingredients together.Adjust your salt and pepper requirements.
Make small balls , flatten them and make a hole in centre to get the shape of a vada
Heat oil in a deep pan and deep fry the bread vadas to a brown colour.
Remove to a kitchen towel to absorb excess oil
Serve hot with tomato sauce.
Note:In case you make the mixture ahead of time, it will be a good idea to refrigerate it.
