Mango Frappe

Mango Frappe

Mango Frappe..yes that's my recipe for today.. am a little late in posting a mango recipe .The mango season is almost over but we are still getting mangoes. We ended up with some not soo sweet variety and that's when i decided to use it for  a frappe..
Now what is a frappe?A frappe is a frozen fruit flavoured dessert made with shaved ice .Also in New England even a milkshake is called Frappe.
Mine is between both..It is a milkshake but i dint use shaved ice. I just kept teh mangoes in the freezer for about 40 minutes.

Pudina Jeera Chaas/Mint and Cumin flavoured chaas

How can i forget the pudina chaas.. well i forgot posting it but had not forgotten to use my excess supply of mint leaves for this!!

N prefers the south indian Sambhaaram but these days he seems to have got a little tired of it so entry the pudhina jeera chaas.. i love both ..!!

Mint and yoghurt both cool you down..best for summers.. and what better drink to cool  you down in the blazing summers of this desert country..

Again there is no fixed quantity of ingredients.. rough estimates again...

Ingredients i used for making 2 glasses

Laban- 1/2 glass or if you are using yoghurt 1/2 cup ( increase according to desired consistency)
Water-1 and 1/2 glass
Mint leaves- 2-3 sprigs
Roasted jeera- 1 tbspn
Salt - to taste
Ice(optional)

Blend all ingredients together. You may add ice if required.
That's it. Pour into a glass and help yourself.. yes and give that lick ..the ones kids do when they have  a tasty drink.. i still do it  for my sambhaaram/chaas!!
And if you have the patience you may garnish with a little more of the roasted jeera!!

It is a refreshing feel as the chaas goes down your throat.
We definitely have it after our walk in the evening!!! My fave drink...healthy too !!!

Sending it to the two events below!!

Moroccan Avocado Citrus Smoothie

That's a hattrick.!!Unintentionally i have posted or rather am posting the third "foreign" recipe in a row. The Egyptian Duqqa,Swedish  Kladdkaka and now the Moroccan smoothie. Well, not a thought out action.Actually have been thinking of some Emirati recipe but ended up with these.I have promised myself to make an Emirati dish and  soon too!!
I bought an Avocado , yes one avocado for trial and i had to do something with it !!
Avocodaos not very easily found in India.. well I don’t remember tasting an avocado till today. I just knew one thing about Avocado.. it was that they should not be fed to lovebirds..!!! Other than  that nothing..So it was obvious that I would take the help of my good friend google to know more about it!!Among many other things, Wikipedia says that in India and specially in the coastal regions of Kerala and Karnataka Avocado is  frequently used in milk shakes  or added to icecream and desserts!!!! Being a Keralite how did  I miss this fruit!!?????may be cos it went  into the shakes..can’t blame me!!!

Avocado.jpeg
Did you know that avocado is also known as alligator pear??I dint.It is also very high in fat but the non saturated fats..and used as a substitue to meat and fish where the availability is limited.
Avocado is used in salads, sandwiches , toasts, soups etc (varies from country to country) and In Morocco (Marrakesh)Avocado smoothie is a popular street food drink. They use orangle blossom water to flavour the avocado.
I have made this smoothie using orange ,avocado, milk and honey.Honestly speaking it is difficult for me to quantyify the ingredients but will give rough estimates.i just went ahead pouring things into my blender!!It is a very tasty creamy smoothie which can be a  very good breakfast smoothie option!!

I tasted the Avocado plain , the taste did not appeal so much to me and that’s when I decided to turn it into something more edible and tasty of course!!

Ingredients I used

Ripe Avocado-1(when u press the avocado ,your finger will leave a dent, that’s shows that the avocado is ripe)
Orange-1/2 of an orange(squeezed the juice like we would of a  lemon)
Honey-around 1 tbspn(adjust according to your taste)
Milk- almost 1and 1/2 cup( I used low fat milk)

Method

Put everything in your blender and bled till smooth.Adjust consistency and sweetness.
This is definitely something I am going to make more often.
Just in 2 minutes may be even less than that you have  a nutritious healthy and beautifully coloured eye appealing  tasty smoothie!!

Nutritional Value of Avocado
Avocados have diverse fats. For a typical avocado:
About 75% of an avocado's calories come from fat, most of which is monounsaturated fat.
On a 100 g basis, avocados have 35% more potassium (485 mg) than bananas (358 mg). They are rich in B vitamins, as well as vitamin E and vitamin K.[30]
Avocados have a high fiber content of 75% insoluble and 25% soluble fiber.
High avocado intake was shown in one preliminary study to lower blood cholesterol levels.

Nutella Shake

I looovveee Nutella... I love to have spoonfuls of Nutella but can't do that without feeling guilty... oh .. I don't want the scales tipping to the right!!!

I had some  whipping cream leftover from a black forest cake i had made recently( but the whipping cream would just not form peaks..it was the powder one..) so i had kept it in the fridge thinking i may use it in some other recipe.

Today morning i opened the fridge and my eyes fell on the cream.. i shift my eyes from the fridge to the kitchen slab and i see Nutella... a bulb comes on in my brain and then there's no stopping me.
I take my blender mix these together pour in some milk.Blend it well and gulp it down.. thank god i left enough to click some pics.. and gulped down the rest later.!!!Like a small kid i licked the moustache  formed by this yummy tasty nutella shake!!! Some extra walking today..( to reduce my guilt )

But felt good !!!Sometimes  you should indulge  yourself !!! Life is for these little pleasures:)

Ingredients:

Whipping cream( totally optional)-1/2 cup
Milk 1 cup
Nutella-2-3 tspn

Drinking chocolate for garnish( again optional)

Method:

Give it a good mix with your blender.Thats's it.Gulp it down.

By the way before clicking the pics i garnished it with drinking chocolate and when i had it later it tasted yummmmm!!!

Cinnamonised Mango Lassi

Mango lassi with cinnamon flavour..that's what i mean... !!!;)

Many mango events  are going on in blogs and i had made  a Ripe Mango Kadhi .The same day with the leftover mango i made some lassi, but had not posted it though i took some pics.
Well to be honest i love the "fruit of the gods"( mango is also known like that ) as the raw fruit... ok i can take lassis and shakes too.. but mango icecreams, cake etc are not to my liking .I have a mango cheesecake in my " to try " recipes but postponing it!!

Then i came across another event and i decided to link this post  to Anu's Healthy Kitchen. This blog was hosting the event for foodelicious .

Difficult for me to quantify the exact amount of ingredients i used but this is how i made it

Ingredients (this is for one glass or may be slightly more)

Ripe mango pureed- almost a cup
Yoghurt-3-4 tbpsn
Sugar-2 tbsp( if mango is sweet ,omit this)
Powdered cardomom-a pinch
Powdered cinnamon- 2-3 pinches and for garnish
Ice cubes- 2

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together in blender till smooth.Garnish with cinnamon powder and serve!!Great for the Dubai heat:).

(I think that's the shortest recipe i have written till date!!!)

So my cinnamonised mango lassi goes to

Notes:

You may substitute yoghurt with milk and make it a shake.
